Finding a counsellor who will be a good fit for you may take a bit of research. If you don't find the information here that you need to make that decision, please call or email and I will answer any questions you may have.

 

Often when we get to the point of looking for a counsellor, we may be feeling overwhelmed, frustrated or confused about how to make a change in our life. You may wonder how you will ever be able to move past something that has happened to you or how to move forward to reach goals you have for yourself.  The counselling process can help you sort out what is going on, consider what might be helpful for you, and work toward creating the change that will help you to experience a sense of wellness in your life. 

                                                                           

Some topics that we may work on include: 
  • learning how to regulate your body following a trauma - such as motor vehicle, relational, or health related
  • grieving the loss of a loved one, your health, or other part of yourself
  • going through a life transition
  • relationship issues
  • decreasing stress, anxiety, worry, or tension
  • depression
  • a desire to grow in a healthy direction 

 

Through the counselling process we can work together to find the way through the struggle, expanding your capacity, resilience, and building a greater awareness of your inner world (sensations, feelings, thoughts) and the world around you. I will work with you using strategies informed by Self-Regulation Therapy, a gentle mind-body process; somatic techniques; neuroplasticity, and Polyvagal Theory. 

Over time you may experience the following: 

  • an improved sense of self

  • better communication and/or decision making

  • improved relationships

  • less anxiety or worry

  • improved mood

  • higher capacity to experience your sensations and express your emotions in a healthy way.
